ABOUT THE RACING BRAIN

Racing intelligence.
Built from the data up.

The Racing Brain is an Australian thoroughbred racing analytics platform built to turn complex racing data into useful, understandable information.

At its core is a suite of predictive models developed using years of Australian racing data. The Brain independently prices established runners, evaluates performance and race strength, forecasts likely race shape and compares its assessment with the betting market.

It is not simply trying to answer "what will win?" The more useful questions are: How likely is it to win? What price should it be? How might the race be run? And is the available price worth taking?
WHAT THE BRAIN DOES

One race. Multiple ways of understanding it.

PRICE

Brain Prices

Independent pricing for established runners, creating the Brain's own assessment of each horse's winning chance.

MAP

Speed Maps

Predictive modelling of likely early position, potential leaders, pace pressure and overall race shape.

PERFORMANCE

Ratings

Numerical assessment of individual horse performances, allowing runs to be evaluated and compared.

CONTEXT

Race Strength

Assessment of how strongly a race performed relative to the expectation for that race class.

MARKET

Value Analysis

Comparison of the Brain's assessment with available market prices to identify genuine disagreement between model and market.

AI

Ask The Brain

Ask questions about horses, races, meetings, historical performances, prices and speed maps in normal language.

HUMAN + MACHINE

Built from wagering experience, scaled by data.

FOUNDER / ANALYST
15+ years
in wagering

The Racing Brain has been developed by a wagering-industry professional with more than 15 years of experience in the betting industry , including building and working with predictive models.

That experience shapes how the platform is built: probability matters more than tips, price matters as much as selection, and model performance should be measured rather than assumed.

Analyst Bets provide the human layer. They are selections made separately from the automated Brain Bet strategy, combining industry experience, race analysis and the data available through The Racing Brain.

Brain Bets and Analyst Bets are intentionally kept separate and tracked separately so their performance can be judged on its own merits.

MODEL PHILOSOPHY

Winning chance and betting value are different questions.

TOP PICK

Who is most likely to win?

The Brain's top-ranked runner is the horse it assesses as having the strongest winning chance. It can remain the top pick even when the market price is shorter than its Brain Price.

VALUE

Is the price worth taking?

A different runner may offer better betting value if the available market price is longer than the Brain's independent assessment.

FAQ / GLOSSARY

How to read The Racing Brain.

What is a Brain Price?
A Brain Price is The Racing Brain's independent assessment of an established runner's winning probability, expressed as decimal odds.
Brain Price $4.00 = approximately a 25% assessed winning chance.
It is not a bookmaker price. Comparing the Brain Price with the available market helps separate winning chance from betting value.
What is Brain Rank?
Brain Rank orders the runners according to the Brain's assessed winning chance. Rank #1 is the runner the Brain considers most likely to win. Rank does not automatically mean value. A lower-ranked runner can be a better betting proposition if the available market price is sufficiently attractive.
What is Rating?
Rating is a numerical figure placed on the performance of a horse. It is designed to quantify the level of an individual performance so runs can be assessed and compared rather than relying only on finishing position.
What is ESR - Early Speed Rating?
ESR stands for Early Speed Rating. It is a numerical assessment of the early-speed component of a horse's performance. ESR helps describe how strongly a horse performed through the earlier stages of a race and forms part of the wider picture used when assessing a runner's historical racing profile.
What is LSR - Late Speed Rating?
LSR stands for Late Speed Rating. It is a numerical assessment of the late-speed component of a horse's performance. LSR provides information about the strength of the horse's performance through the later stages of the race. ESR and LSR are components of performance and should not be confused with the horse's overall Rating.
What is Rank / Race Strength?
Rank measures the strength of a race relative to its class. It provides context beyond the race's class label. Two races carrying the same class can perform to different levels, and Rank is designed to identify that difference. It should therefore be read as a class-relative race-strength measure, rather than as the individual horse's performance Rating.
What is a Speed Map?
The Speed Map is the Brain's prediction of how runners are likely to position themselves during the early stages of a race. It estimates likely leaders, forward runners, midfield positions and horses expected to settle further back. It is a prediction, not a guarantee. Barrier behaviour, riding tactics and how horses begin can change the actual race shape.
What does Pace mean?
Pace describes the expected pressure through the early stages of a race. Several runners wanting forward positions can create stronger pressure, while an obvious uncontested leader may be able to control a race more comfortably. Race shape matters because different tempo scenarios can suit different types of runners.
What does Edge mean?
Edge describes the difference between the Brain's assessment and the available betting market.
If the Brain has a horse at $5.00 and the market is offering $8.00, the available price is longer than the Brain's assessment.
Edge does not mean a horse is expected to win. It describes the relationship between probability and price.
Why can the top pick be different from the best bet?
Because the most likely winner and the best available betting proposition are not necessarily the same horse.
Horse A may be the Brain's top winning chance at $3.00 but be offered by the market at $2.20. Horse B may have a Brain Price of $6.00 but be available at $10.00.
Horse A can remain the horse most likely to win while Horse B offers the more attractive price.
How does the Brain handle first starters?
First starters do not have a genuine independent Brain Price. Without established race-performance history, the same independent pricing process used for experienced runners cannot be applied. Where a price is required internally, the betting market may be used as a reference or placeholder. The Racing Brain does not present that as an independent model valuation or claim a model edge from it.
What are Brain Bets?
Brain Bets are selections identified through the systematic Racing Brain strategy when the combination of model assessment and available price meets the required criteria. They are not simply the Brain's top-ranked horse in every race. Approved Brain Bets are recorded so their performance can be tracked over time.
What are Analyst Bets?
Analyst Bets are human selections made separately from the automated Brain Bet strategy. They combine racing analysis with more than 15 years of wagering-industry experience, including predictive modelling . Keeping the two categories separate means users can see the systematic model strategy and the human analytical approach independently and compare their performance.
Does the Brain guarantee winners?
No. Horse racing is uncertain. A price represents an estimated probability, not a prediction that an event must occur. Even a runner assessed as a strong winning chance will lose races. The purpose of pricing is to quantify that uncertainty rather than pretend it does not exist.
RESPONSIBLE WAGERING

Racing analysis, not certainty.

The Racing Brain provides racing analysis and information. Racing outcomes are uncertain and past performance is not a guarantee of future results. Always wager responsibly and never bet more than you can afford to lose.
